This is the next big thing we're doing at 123 Community Space...

Hear Me Now will kick off on Saturday, November 10th with a night of film, hip-hop, and spoken work poetry. These are the details:

5PM- Screening of “Slam”, an award-winning film starring spoken word poet Saul Williams

7PM-spoken word performances, hip-hop and open mic
with special guest emcees Tina G. and Miss Lizzy

featuring performances by:

Ol Soul
Kahlil Kahjee
Koba
Poeta Guerrera
Kiwi Star
Justin Woo
and many more!

We're asking for $5 at the door to support 123.

The next day, Sunday November 11th will be the first of 8 free Spoken Word/Poetry Workshops for teens and adults. The workshops will happen every Sunday from 3 to 5pm. Each workshop will give participants an opportunity to develop their unique voices as they create original pieces, and to learn about some of the greatest performance poets of our generation. The eight weeks of learning, sharing, and exploring will build towards a finale poetry night at 123. All participants will have a chance to perform at this event recognizing the talent and voices of the community.

123 Tompkins Ave (right off Myrtle) in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn
G Train to Myrtle-Willoughby Exit on Myrtle Ave and walk one block (past the gas station) on Myrtle to Tompkins. Make a right on Tompkins and go to 123. J/M to Myrtle -- Walk 4 long blocks down Myrtle (past Lewis) to Tompkins. Make a left on Tompkins and go to 123.
